Thank god Jagex was founded at a point that was when it could be independent. When the player base started to decline in the late 2000s the publisher could have pulled the plug on the whole thing. The truth is, Raven Software started laying people off, even as Warzone had made billions, so even success can spell disaster for the people who created the game.
